Why Attend Adult Ed. / Fellowship Events

There are several great reasons for attending adult educational events. Here are just a few...

Deepening your personal relationship with God. Attending adult educational events will give you the opportunity to know God on a deeper level through the Word.

Growing in faith and relationship with others. As you hear the faith stories of those around you, your faith grows. There is also an opportunity to get to know your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Growing in your faith and knowledge benefits your children. When your children ask questions about Jesus, God and faith, you will be better prepared to answer them. Also, as your children witness you going to classs it stresses the importance of religious education beyond Confirmation.

If you have not ever been to an adult education event, ask a friend to join you!  This may help ease the tension of going into something unfamiliar.

Reflecting on Worship

Discussion groups will meet at 9:30am beginning September 11th in the Gathering Area and Great Hall and 7:45pm beginning September 14th in the Gathering Area.  Confirmed adults will have the opportunity to gather around discussion questions based on worship.  These conversations will then assist you in your transition between worship and the rest of your week and help to make sense of God in the world.

The group will decide on future books to be read.  Contact Maylou Austin (886-4910) or the church office (886-2696) for more information.

Prayer Shawl Group
Click, click goes the knitting needles.  One, two three….you will hear the counting of stitches as those crocheting count their stitches.  The Youth Room is a busy place on the first and third Tuesday of each month as the Prayer Shawl group meets from 10am to noon.   Prayers are woven into each stitch as the LCOOR Prayer Shawl Group lovingly make the shawls.  Working together, we share patterns, concerns and fellowship.  Do you know of someone in need of a prayer shawl?  Shawls are given to our own members and others in the community and beyond.

Great Hall Walkers
Stay out of the elements of the outdoors.  Come and walk the Great Hall.  Doors open at 8:30am.

Quilting
The LCOOR quilting group meets on the first and third Thursday of each month in Assembly A beginning at 9am.  Sewing is not a requirement – caring for those less fortunate, sharing your time and enjoying conversation with others is a requirement!  Hope to see you there!
